Korea’s Most Controversial BL Webtoon Reveals K-Drama Cast—Public Reactions Divided
Kim Kang Jae and Ji Min Seo are confirmed as leads for the BL webtoon adaptation Painter of the Night — and the casting is stirring up serious chatter.
The controversy began when news broke about the short-form K-Drama. Kim Kang Jae is set to play Yoon Seung Ho. Ji Min Seo takes on Baek Na Kyum.
Fans quickly reacted. The two actors don’t quite match the original characters’ vibes.

Born in 1997, Kim Kang Jae got attention from his role in the web drama Long And Short and AKMU’s “Peace of Cake” MV. Ji Min Seo, born 1996, debuted in 2025 BL drama Something Went Wrong and is returning to the genre here.
The series will be directed by Choi Ji Young of The Divorce Insurance fame. It drops on the short-form platform Lezhin Snack.
