Beloved K-Drama Actress Discusses 10-Year Age Difference With New Male Lead And How She Managed It

Kim Go Eun opened up about her real-life 10-year age gap with co-star Kim Jae Won ahead of Yumi’s Cells Season 3.
The press conference for the TVING original rocked on April 7, 2026 (KST). Kim Go Eun returns as Yumi after four years, ready to crack up fans with more comedy.
“Honestly, I have a strong ‘comedy cell’ in me. I enjoy making people laugh. Yumi has a lot of comedic elements, so it was really fun to act. The director laughed loudly, and if I couldn’t hear him laughing from behind the monitor, I’d actually feel a bit disappointed.”

The romance plot with new lead Kim Jae Won caught eyes because of their age gap — 1991 vs. 2001 born. Kim Go Eun joked about working on her “Gen Z slang” to keep up.
“I went to the dermatologist diligently and even learned some Gen Z slang,”
she laughed.
“Jae Won is quite mature for his age, so I didn’t really feel like there was a 10-year gap.”

Kim Jae Won felt the same, saying the age difference wasn’t a problem on set.
“Sometimes younger colleagues can actually feel more difficult to approach, but I didn’t feel the age difference at all.”
“It wasn’t intimidating or hard to approach her in any way. She was a kind, pretty noona who would treat me to meals. But once filming started, her gaze would completely change… She was very professional.”

Yumi’s Cells Season 3 premieres April 13. Two episodes drop every Monday 6 PM on TVING, plus single episodes air Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:50 PM on tvN.
